      LOKER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 2020-21

Dear Loker School Community,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! I am very proud to be the Principal of Loker Elementary School. We are so pleased and honored to be the home of Wayland's Spanish Immersion program. As a team, we look forward to welcoming and working with all of the Loker families beginning on September 14, 2020 in our all-remote model and October 19, 2020 in our hybrid model! The Loker faculty and I missed your children over the summer (and not seeing them in-person during the spring) and we look forward to providing an engaging
and meaningful education for them this year in living our core values PRIDE (Personal Best, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Enthusiasm)

Our mission is to foster a safe and nurturing learning environment where students develop a love of learning, develop positive character traits and build self-confidence that will propel them into being lifelong learners. Within this mission, we are dedicated to educating the whole child in meeting their social, emotional and academic needs in a developmentally appropriate manner. The Loker School staff is an extremely dedicated group of professional educators who successfully work collaboratively in making Loker School a very special place for students and I am privileged to be their colleague.  Their enthusiasm and commitment for educating students is inspiring and exemplary. Through differentiated instruction and RTI (Response to Intervention) learning blocks, each child within Loker School will actively participate in an education tailored to their individual learning needs in all aspects of their development. Teachers meet weekly in PLC (Professional Learning Community) grade-level meetings with mathematics coaches, reading specialists and curriculum directors where they will analyze student work and share best practices to provide this type of personalized instruction.

As Principal, my job is to be the educational leader of the school. I have found that being proactive and visible on a daily basis in classrooms helps students understand that I am an educator and not just the disciplinarian when difficult circumstances arise. I want students to understand that my position primarily involves being a teacher and a supportive voice in their learning.  My goal with my colleagues is to show strong leadership in the areas of professional development, school improvement and curriculum which encourages faculty members to experiment with new philosophies and take ownership of key school initiatives. This has resulted in a school community for Loker where learning is the cornerstone for both students and teachers.

I am always open to feedback from families and members of the community as we believe in a spirit of continuous improvement in all aspects of our school. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or feedback regarding Loker School. I can be reached at (508) 358-8601 or through email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Brian Jones
Loker School Principal
